Nine killed and 17 still missing in Birkhar, Nagpuje and Newa Tol landslide

Landslide have occured in three places of the Sindupalchowk districted

Sindhupalchowk: At least nine people have died on the last night landslide and still 22 persons have gone missing at Dhumthang in Bahrabise Minucipality ward no.  7, Sindhupalchowk. It is reported that 10 houses have been buried at Bhirkhar and 8 houses in the Nagpuje. And, Newa Tol has also got the landslide. 

“Six bodies were recovered from the incident site in Bhirkharka and another one in Nagpuje,” said Inspector Nawaraj Neupane of Area Police Office in Barhabise said to the media. 

According to SP Rajan Adhikari, a search operation is being carried out by Nepal Army, Nepal Police and APF, inclidung with the locals. 

The bodies of three people who lost their lives due to the landslide have been found in Nagpuje, which suffered the most damage. The bodies of 98-year-old Taxi Sherpa, 42-year-old Gyanimaya Pradhan and 62-year-old Bhaktimaya Shrestha have been found. 

Similarly, 23-year-old Junu Bik, 24-year-old Suklal Bik and Sandesh Bik were killed in a landslide in Bhirkharka on Sunday morning. According to DSG Sapkota, four people are still missing after two houses were swept away.
