Kathmandu. The trial production of the 4.5 MW Vijaypur-2 Hydropower Project in Kaski will start in the next two weeks. Due to the effect of coronavirus (Covid-19), the technical test team of the Chinese company manufacturing electromechanical equipment could not come to Nepal.
Nirajan Maharjan, financial manager at promoter Civil Hydro Power, said discussions are underway to start testing as per the online instructions given by Chinese technology. According to him, the workers will start trial production as per the instructions given by the technicians of the electromechanical equipment manufacturing company of the project from China.
"The technical team has not been able to come to from China since the lockdown," he said. Now we have the option to start the test from online instruction. '
It has been five months late to start production of the project due to the non-arrival of Chinese technicians. The company has informed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in a letter that Kareena Asar has not been able to start power generation from the project as per the schedule.
The electricity generated by the project will be connected to the 132 KV Lekhnath substation. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 950 million.
Two banks have invested Rs. 710 million in the project, which is being invested by industrial house KC Group. This is the cascade project of Vijaypur-1. Vijaypur-1 has been completed and is in operation.
