Kathmandu: Corona's epidemic has left the deserted Thamel suddenly bright. The deserted hotel, restaurant, and bar in Thamel are crowded with people.

Thamel, a tourist city in Nepal that has been plagued by corona for a long time, has suddenly witnessed an increase in the number of internal and external tourists. Corona has become a popular destination for people who have been living at home for a long time. To celebrate Christmas in Thamel, a group of young people, children and old people from all age of groups came to have fun. Tourists who came to have fun also said that all the places are open and they are very happy to have fun as they want.

The almost always empty restaurant was packed during Christmas yesterday. At other times, they had to wait guest’s arrival, but today we are very busy to serving them, said Mr. Sandip Kapri, a businessman who has been running Lumbini Tandoori Dhawa in Thamel. "Yesterday's business helped a lot at a time when it was difficult to pay the rent," said Kapri. "We never thought we would have so many people," he added.

Another businessman Saran Adhikari who runs a hotel business in Thamel says that despite the good activity and income of people every Christmas and New Year, this year was not expected to be very active due to the Corona epidemic, but the opposite happened. Adhikari added that this year's Christmas has been a great relief.

There was a crowd of people in the deserted Thamel bar. Rajendra Magar, who runs a bar in Thamel, also said that he was very happy with yesterday's business. He said, "We had agitated saying that we should be allowed to run business at night. Yesterday, after the government of Nepal allowed us to keep it open till mid night (almost 1:00am), it became very easy for us to do business." While Magar is happy, it seems that there will be good business in the New Year as well. Not only in hotels, bars, restaurants, but also those who trade in carts have made a good income.
